Snap o’ the day: Wheels of misfortune

An unlucky resident on a quiet city cul-de-sac awoke on Saturday morning to a shocking sight: all four of her wheels had been stolen overnight, and her Honda Civic had been left perched atop two railroad ties. According to the victim, city police were also astounded at the brazen nature of the theft, with one officer reportedly telling her,  “I thought this only happened in movies.”

I actually saw them putting that car on a flatbed truck & thinking WTF happened here? That really sucks. That’s why all cars need to come with one locking ok key lug. Not matter that is still pretty crazy.

If this is the first car the cop has seen with all four wheels and tires missing, and he/she thinks it only happens in movies, it has to be a rookie.

And while wheel locks are better than nothing, they pose no real problem for most criminals.

This kind of stuff happens every night along most NYC highways. I guess the cop never traveled up north.

Yeah it happens all the time in L.A too, Obviously.
that’s the sign of a tough economy! it was probably some dude with no money that needed new tires on his honda. that’s what happens man…

Does anyone know where this happened?

    On a quiet city cul-de-sac. :)

WoW! I looked at the city web site to see if I could venture a guess where this theft took place. Way too many reports to choose from. And the amount of “vandalism/damage/destruction of property” reports dated March 22, 2009 was an eye opener! All ovwer the city, not in localized area I might add.

It’s absolutely amzing the amount of crime that takes place in this city, and it’s never reported on or seen by most citizens. Charlottesville, All American city, yeah sure it is!!!!!

The multi-tire theft happened on Roy’s Place– a relatively new cul-de-sac in the Ridge Street neighborhood. A car was set on fire a block away from the same neighborhood a few hours ago– pictures coming soon.

I saw the theft on Roy’s Place, I thought that might have been the incident in question.

A car was set on fire on East High Street at the R. M. Davis Appliance building a week or so ago (across from the Joy Food Store). I hope this isn’t one of the newest fads residents are going to have to deal with now.

It also happened to a Honda Civic in Woodbrook last week.

Probably one of those cars with the fancy wheels. You know where the wheels are worth more than the rest of the car.

Saw a woman interviewed on 29 last night who lost her wheels–is this yet another incident. Reported to have happened behind Putt-Putt off Rio Road.

She was amazingly calm and detached about the whole thing on camera saying:

“If they need it that badly that they had to steal it under the light, then, you know, if you need it go ahead and take it but what comes around goes around,”
