Russ Gill and Francesca Conte, owners of Charlottesville Running Company, and world class endurance runners, both qualified this year for the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run from Squaw Valley, California to Auburn, California. Runners must finish the race in 30 hours, and the website offers a stern warning: “The mountains, although beautiful, are relentless in their challenge and unforgiving to the ill-prepared.”
