Storm update: 45,000 homes without power

Follow @readthehook

Emergency officials from Albemarle County, Charlottesville and UVA are monitoring the storm and conditions from the Emergency Operations Center EOC on Ivy Drive, and they report that there are almost 45,000 homes without power in Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville.

As for the roads, they are in poor condition and drivers are being asked to stay home. Right, now there have been no serious crashes or injuries reported. Because of the heavy/wet snow there are a lot of trees and power lines down.

The City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County have both declared a local emergency, which allows for state support, if needed.

If you're power is out, report it to your power company.

Hi, Just a heads up that you've got the wrong number for CVEC. The last four numbers should be 2832. The number you have puts me through to someone (very friendly) in Texas.

Thanks.

This fing city is terrible with cleanup. It fing stopped snowing around 2, but still Streets not cleared after dark. Now schools closed again, we new this was fing coming but poor job of executing. I live on Market street and had many plows come when it was not even snowing.
